Take your Terraforming Mars experience to new territory with Terraforming Mars: Hellas & Elysium. This expansion introduces a double-sided game board featuring two completely different regions of Mars, each with its own geography, placement opportunities, Milestones, and Awards. 

Instead of playing on the standard Tharsis map, choose Hellas or Elysium and adapt your corporate strategy to a new Martian landscape.

Two New Maps, Two New Challenges

Hellas – The Southern Wild

Explore the southern region of Mars, including the South Pole and the enormous Hellas crater. The map introduces special placement opportunities around the South Pole, including a bonus that can provide heat and another that can give you an ocean tile for a cost of 6 Megacredits. 

The Hellas map also introduces its own set of Milestones and Awards, encouraging players to pursue different strategies from those used on the standard map.

Elysium – The Other Face of Mars

Travel to the opposite side of Mars and explore Elysium, featuring vast northern lowlands and mineral-rich southern terrain. The map includes Olympus Mons, where placing a tile can provide three free cards, adding another strategic opportunity to consider during your terraforming plans. 

Elysium also features a completely different selection of Milestones and Awards, rewarding approaches such as developing production, collecting bio tags, building project cards, and playing events. 

New Strategies for Terraforming Mars

The different board layouts change how players approach territorial development and scoring. Hellas rewards players who make use of its southern geography and unique placement bonuses, while Elysium creates opportunities around Olympus Mons, ocean-adjacent areas, and the southern desert.

Each map has its own five Milestones and five Awards, giving players new objectives to pursue and increasing the variety of strategies available across games.
