Set sail beyond the shores of CATAN with the CATAN: Explorers & Pirates Expansion. This adventure-filled board game expansion introduces five progressive scenarios focused on exploration, seafaring, trade, settlement building, and completing missions for the Council of CATAN.

Build harbour settlements, construct ships, recruit settlers and sailing crews, and venture across uncharted seas in search of new islands, valuable spices, rich fishing grounds, and gold fields. Each scenario introduces new rules and challenges, gradually increasing in complexity as your knowledge and strategy develop.

Explore New Lands and Complete Missions

Unlike traditional games of CATAN, Explorers & Pirates sends players beyond the main island to discover a modular world that unfolds during play. Transport settlers and resources across the sea, establish new settlements, and compete to complete objectives for the Council of CATAN.

The five included scenarios build upon one another, making it easy to learn the new mechanics before combining them into a deeper and more strategic CATAN experience.

Important Compatibility Information

This is an expansion and is not a complete standalone game.

A copy of the CATAN Base Game is required to play.

Previous and current editions of CATAN may be used together. Some combinations may feature different card backs, which can be managed using CATAN-sized card sleeves or replacement cards. Certain accessories may not be compatible across editions due to changes in component dimensions or design.
